Rony Baltazar-Lopez
Biography
Rony Baltazar-Lopez was appointed by Governor Matt Meyer in 2025 to serve as the inaugural Director of the Delaware Office of New Americans. Prior to his appointment, he served as the Director of Policy and Communications for the Delaware Department of State.
Before joining the Delaware Department of State, Director Baltazar-Lopez worked as a communications staffer for Delaware Attorney General Kathy Jennings. He began his civil career in 2017 when he worked in Washington, D.C., in the United States Senate as a legislative staffer for then U.S. Senator Tom Carper, where he assisted with a portfolio focused on immigration, homeland security, and foreign affairs.
Director Baltazar-Lopez serves as the Vice Chair of the Delaware Hispanic Commission and was appointed by former Governor John Carney in 2021. He currently serves as the youngest member of the Commission.
Director Baltazar-Lopez also serves on other boards, including as the Board President for La Red Health Center, a federally qualified health center in Sussex County. From 2019 through 2022, he also served on the Milford School Board of Education, including two years as vice president.
In 2025, Director Baltazar-Lopez was recognized by the Delaware Business Times as one of its 40 under 40 honorees for 2025. The DBT 40 under 40 celebrates the region’s most dynamic young professionals under 40 who are driving impact through intelligence, initiative, and innovation.
A native of Milford, Delaware, Director Baltazar-Lopez holds an Associate of Arts, a Bachelor of Arts in political science, and a Master’s in Public Administration, all from the University of Delaware.
