File a Complaint
For any emergencies, you should always call 911. State and local law enforcement are here to protect your safety and do not check immigration status when responding to emergencies.
The Office of New Americans is committed to supporting and empowering immigrant and refugee communities across the state. You may file complaints about an agency, business, or individual. You may also contact our office if you need help filing a complaint or if you need guidance on where to submit your complaint.
Discrimination Complaints
Discrimination in the Workplace
If you believe you have been discriminated against in the workplace on the basis of race, color, religion, national origin, or other protected status, you may file a complaint with the Delaware Department of Labor’s Office of Anti-Discrimination.
Discrimination in Public Accommodation
If you believe you have been denied, refused, or withheld the services, facilities, privileges, or advantages of a place of public accommodations because of your race, color, religion, national origin, or other protected status, you may file a complaint with the Division of Human and Civil Rights.
Discrimination in Housing
If you believe you have been discriminated against by a landlord on the basis of race, color, religion, national origin, or other protected status, you may file a complaint with the Division of Human and Civil Rights.
Complaints against a professional
Complaints against a licensed professional
If you believe a licensed professional, including but not limited to: a physician, nurse, social worker, etc., has violated the laws or regulations of their profession, you may file a complaint with the Division of Professional Regulation.
Complaints against an unlicensed professional
If you believe someone is practicing a profession in which they are not licensed to practice in, you may file a complaint with the Division of Professional Regulation.
Labor Complaints
Wage Claim
If you believe you have not been paid correctly, including unpaid wages, overtime, or minimum wage violations, you may file a complaint with the Delaware Department of Labor’s Division of Industrial Affairs.
Educational Complaints
K-12 Educational Complaints
If you believe that your child has experienced inequitable treatment or barriers to accessing educational opportunities, you have the right to file a complaint with the Delaware Educational Equity Ombudsperson Program.
Post-Secondary Institutions
If you have exhausted all complaint resolution policies and procedures at the postsecondary institution, you may file a complaint with the Delaware Higher Education Office.
Consumer Protection Complaints
Notario Fraud
If you believe you have been a victim of Notario fraud, you may file a complaint with the Delaware Department of Justice.
Identity Theft
If you believe you have been a victim of identity theft, you should contact your local law enforcement agency first. You then may report identity theft to the U.S. Federal Trade Commission.
